Benvolio Montague. The guy from Romeo and Juliet. Ueah him. He's my favorite little fella, I love every interpretation of him.
Benvolio is a Montague. He is known as the "peacekeeper" in the story, yet he isn't the best at it. He is Romeo's cousin, and friends with Mercutio. Different productions have different interpretations of him, some interpret him as the more serious of the trio, tired of everyone's bullshit, or they make him join in on it. I personally like seeing him as someone who avoids the fighting unless provoked, yet not taking anything seriously until the duel between Mercutio and Tybalt. Why does he disappear after act 3 scene 1, is he like, mourning? Probably. Poor guy. I'd be sad too if shit happened to me.
Some productions have Benvolio in place of Balthasar, which I prefer more, due to the fact we could always use more Benvolio and Romeo interactions, and it gives Benvolio a bigger role. Also helps stir up some headcanons.
I've seen four versions of Benvolio. The 1968 movie, a bit of the 1996 movie, the first act of the Hungarian musical, and the French 2010 musical. I am currently focused on the 2010 French musical version :3.
